Amazing Red Wine Braised Meatballs for a Delicious Dinner

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups red wine
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, oregano, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  3. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  4. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and sear on all sides until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Transfer the meatballs to a baking dish.
  6. In the same skillet, add the red wine, beef broth, and tomato sauce. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, scraping the bottom of the pan.
  7. Pour the sauce over the meatballs in the baking dish.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until the meatballs are cooked through.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add minced onions to the meatball mixture.
  • Serve with pasta or crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
