Classic Mornay Sauce

A rich and creamy Mornay sauce that adds a velvety touch to your favorite dishes.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the flour and whisk continuously for about 2 minutes.
  3. Gradually add the milk, whisking until the mixture is smooth and thick.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the Gruyère and Parmesan cheeses until melted.
  5. Add nutmeg, salt, and pepper to taste.
