Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp sugar (for rolling)
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla to the butter mixture and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon. Form dough into balls, roll in the cinnamon sugar, and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden.
  8. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of nutmeg.
  • Ensure your butter is softened at room temperature for better creaming.
