- 2 whole oranges
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a pie dish.
- Boil the whole oranges in water for about 1 hour until soft; let them cool.
- Pureé oranges in a food processor.
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat together butter, eggs, and the pureéd oranges.
- Gradually combine both mixtures together, followed by the buttermilk.
- Pour batter into the prepared pie dish and bake for approximately 45-50 minutes.
- Allow to cool before serving.
