  • 2 whole oranges
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a pie dish.
  2. Boil the whole oranges in water for about 1 hour until soft; let them cool.
  3. Pureé oranges in a food processor.
  4. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. In another bowl, beat together butter, eggs, and the pureéd oranges.
  6. Gradually combine both mixtures together, followed by the buttermilk.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared pie dish and bake for approximately 45-50 minutes.
  8. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

  • For a more intense flavor, consider adding a glaze made from orange juice and powdered sugar.
